There is a utility called "ovmapdump" that may work for you.

To find the status of a symbol on a map, try this:

ovmapdump -m \ -v >/tmp/map.dump

Now edit the file, searching for the symbol ID or label or whatever
you have, and you should see all sorts of information, including
status.  See the man page for more information.
