Can a 7135 raid be attached to a 3.2.5 and 4.1.4?

Question:

Env: AIX 3.2.5 and AIX 4.1.4; twin-tailed attachment of a 7135-110.

Desc: I read that the 7135 raid is supported by 3.2.5 and by 4.1.4,
is this concurrently? In other words can two systems (one at 3.2.5
and one at 4.1.4) both access the same 7135 Raid device at the same
time?

Response:

Act: If you have multiple RISC systems attached to a 7135, they all
must be at the same OS level.

Question:

I would like a little more understanding as to why the two systems
at different OS levels cannot both address the 7135. Does the microcode
needed for 4.1 make the 7135 unusable by the 3.2 system or is it just
additional info needed for 4.1? Customer is not comfortable with the
amount of time that both systems cannot access all the data; until
complete upgrade of both systems to 4.1. Please help us understand the
issues.

Response:

Act: ECA005 contains microcode for the IBM 7135 RAID Array Models 110
and 210 that enables the 7135 to operate with various version of AIX
software. More specifically, this ECA provides a convenient way to
change the microcode and EEPROM levels of a given 7135 to work with a
corresponding level of AIX.

Applicable versions of AIX include AIX 3.2.5, AIX 4.1.3, and AIX 4.1.4.
The 7135 will not support a multi-level multi-host environment. e.g.,
you cannot connect one RISC System/6000 at AIX 3.2.5 to a 7135 that is
also attached to a RISC System/6000 at AIX 4.1.4 and expect the two
systems to use the shared 7135 at the same time.

NextAct: Closing item per customer agreement.
