SystemsMonitorv2.2>install problems with systems information agent

Environment:  AIX 4.1.3 and SystemsMonitor 2.2 SIA smux peer

Problem:  The customer is having some problems installing 
the Systems Information Agent on AIX 4.1.3.  He is getting
an error from installp stating that there are requsite 
failures;  however, the failure section showed nothing under 
the missing prerequsites.  In other words the in the missing 
requsites screen there was nothing.

Solution:  This is a problem with SystemMonitor missing some 
of the AIX 3.2.5 comaptibility libraries.
I therefore looked at the /usr/lpp/smsia/README.sysinfod
to see what the prequsites are.  Here is the file in its
entirety:

The information contained in this file consists of hints for using
Systems Monitor for AIX (SIA), help with functions that may not be apparent,
and last minute updates to the existing documentation.  Review this file
when Systems Monitor for AIX (SIA) is installed or when updates are applied.

This is the first edition (September 1995) of the V2R2 README document.

This README is in the /usr/lpp/smsia directory after installation.

HOW TO USE YOUR DOCUMENTATION

  1.  Read the Systems Monitor for AIX (SIA) User's Guide (SC31-8173) for
      configuration and system information on the product.

  2.  The Systems Monitor for AIX (SIA) MIB, is available in SMI format in
      /usr/lpp/smsia/original/ibm-sysinfo.mib.

MIGRATION OF CONFIGIRATION FILES FOR SYSTEMS MONITOR/6000 VERSION 1 to
SYSTEMS MONITOR FOR AIX VERSION 2

  Configuration files for Systems Monitor/6000 Version 1 can be converted to the
  Systems Monitor for AIX Version 2 format with the script: siaConvertCfg in
 the directory: /usr/lpp/smsia/original.  The script can be run to convert all
  files in a directory or just a single file.  The output of the conversion is p
laced
  in the directory /var/adm/smv2/sia/config. 

                 usage : siaConvertCfg file-name/directory-name

3. The /etc/snmpd.conf file is updated with the following configuration line:
   "snmpd      maxpacket=16000 smuxtimeout=60       \# Systems Monitor for AIX"

4. Prerequisites on AIX 4.1:

   On AIX 4.1, the following must be installed before the System Information
   Agent can be installed:

      bos.rte v=4 r=1 o>1
      bos.net.tcp.client v=4 r=1
      bos.compat.lan v=4 r=1
      xlC.rte v=3 r=1

This last part defines the prerequsites.  I therefore installed 
the comaptibility libraries, xlC.rte, and then the SIA.  
This worked fine for the customer.
