Restored system with Sysback, Oracle LV ownership is wrong
Question:
Restored VG using SYSBACK, now LV owners are wrong
Response:
Env: AIX 325
model sp2
sysback 3.2.1.29
Desc: Customer was trying to restore a system backup to a new system.
This included rootvg and another VG for Oracle.
Previously the /dev/\ owner was orpd1 and the group was
dba. After the restore, the owner was root and the group was
sys.
Response:
This is normal occurance, Sysback does not have control over it.
You can use the install.post script feature of sysback to change
the owner and group of any critical LVs that need to be changed.
Basically, when sysback creates LVs, the LV device
files will be owned by root:sys. Since Oracle requires that
the device file, /dev/\ be owned by the oracle user and
group (in his case it is orpd1:dba), there are 2 ways to deal with
it: 1) sysback post-install script or 2) manually change the
ownership after install.
