Printq shows ready but it is not active

Question:

Printq shows ready but it is not active.  Model 7012-53H with 3.2.5

Response:

One of the printers is in a DEV_WAIT state.

disable queue (the DEV_WAIT queue)
cd /var/spool/lpd/stat
ls shows  p.queue.lp6 and pid
cat p.queue.lp6
65533
kill -9 65533
Now DEV_WAIT state  went to a DOWN, and other
printers are working.

Suggested that before she enable the queue that she
test the device with
echo "TEST" > /dev/lp6
If this prints then enable the queue.  If not fix the wiring.
