New install of 7137. Shows up as Other SCSI Disk.

Question:

My customer is trying to access his 7137. This appears as
"Other SCSI Disk" in the listing of devices.

Answer:

They should install the 7137 microcode and installation
software that comes on two 3.5" disks with the array. This
process is documented in the IBM 7137/3514 Disk Array Subsystem
        - RISC/6000 System Attachment Guide (SA21-9630-02) on page 2-3.

        1. Log onto RISC/6000 with root authority.

        2. Insert the install diskette in the diskette drive.
                3. cd /usr/lpp

        4. mkdir 7137
                5. cd 7137

        6. tar -xvf /dev/fd0
                7. Run the install program by executing the following command:
                   /usr/lpp/7137/arrayinst

        Now to install microcode...
                1. cd /usr/lpp/7137

        2. Insert microcode diskette in the diskette drive.

        3. tar -xvf /dev/fd0

        4. verify that the 7137 volume group is varied off or...

           varyoffvg \

        5. To download the microcode to the 7137, run the following
           command:

           /usr/lpp/7137/codedwnld /dev/hdisk\ 7137code.wb

where \ is the member of the physical volume

Now the 7137 should be configurable.
