Problem with 4.1 ShowCase CD.

Question: 
Problem installing AIX v4.1 cset++ compiler.

The customer is trying to install CSet++ from his 4.1 Showcase CDROM.
He is getting an error when he tries to run Showcase:
0509-022: cannot load library_XtInitialize
0509-036: cannot load program usr cdrom showcase xshell
we therefore went into smit to try and install.  He gave for
the input device the full pathname of the product directory
/usr/cdrom/sws/installp/cset.  He also tried to install the c
compiler using /usr/cdrom/sws/installp/c.  Both of these
attempts failed with:
invalid data in table of contents

The testcase shows:
This is the error I get trying to run the Showcase application
as described in the "Software Development Solutions for AIX
V4.1" booklet:

When the customer tries to run smit to see what is on the ShowCase CD,
he gets:
>> /usr/lib/instl/sm_inst installp_format -O -iems -d
'/usr/cdrom/sws/installp/cset'
 0503-005 installp:  The format of the toc file is invalid
0503-021 installp:  The package name field required in a
4.1-formated package is missing from the lpp_name file.

Response: 
Customer is unable to run the Showcase app that will
facilitate the installation of LPPs.  Checked for the
library libXt.a .
Tested the installation of CSet++ on 40p system in the lab and
was successfull
Once more) Had customer run through smit
Software Installation and Maintenance
INPUT device / directory for software  /usr/cdrom/sws/installp/cset
Next had the customer list the software products on the CD.  The
table of contents NOW came up without error.  Tried to install
the CSet product off the CD and found prereq.s missing.

xlC.C++.iclu.lib
Customer has CD "AIX 4.1 Client" to remove the prereq.s.  Had customer
attempt to install the prereqs. and received errors
"0503:-005 installp: The format of the toc file is invalid."
"0503-021 installp: The package name field required ina 4.1-formated
package is missing from the lpp_name file."
Tried to 'cd' into the filesystem containing the
images and the window hung.  Also did a 'find' for the .toc file and that
window hung.  Opened another window and tried to unmount the cdrom,
it would not unmount.  Did a Shutdown -Fr.  Once the system was
up, we remounted the cdrom and looked for the .toc file.  It seems that
hen changing directories, down 2 subdirectories from the mountpoint,
he window hangs.  The current window is hung on a ls command of the
irectory /cdrom/usr/sys/inst.images

NOTE: 
HW resolved this problem by changing models of the cdrom drive being used
to do the install. They were using a model 7210 model 001 and replaced
this with a 7210 model 005 cdrom. The model 7210 model 005 worked to
do the install.
