SSP 2.1, mpcc and mpxlf compiled jobs taking 50% of CPU
The customer has their SP2 up and running. They are using the mpcc
and mpxlf commands to compile code that will be mpi jobs (excuse my
terminology if it's incorrect). When he is running these mpi jobs pmd
starts running and it's taking up 50% of the cpu. They are concerned
about the cpu being hogged like this. This happens on all the nodes.
The poe environment is automatically envoked when using mpi jobs.
The customer is running ssp 2.1. This is a known problem at this level
of the code. The way to fix it is to set an environment variable.
MP_PULSE=0
After setting and exporting this all works fine.
