Problem printing to

Response:

ENV:    3.2.5

DESC:
Trying to print to a remote queue on a mainframe printer.
When they print, nothing happens but when they do and lpstat,
they get a message that say 'query jes queue not implemented'.

ACT:
Can you ping the host- yes
Are you using rembak? yes
What command are you using to print?
        lpr -pqueuename -\#1 -c:jobin=userid writer=printerid user=userid
        cl=5: hostfile

The host responds:
Query JES queues not implemented.

Response:

Mainframe application is VPS, They say that the job gets queued, but doesn't
get to the printer.

Previous articals referenced customer to VPS (Non IBM I think).
VPS stands for Virtual Printing System.
Customer in item J8889 was referred to VPS and never called us back.
Retain item 42x25 B072 was concluded with a software bug fixed by VPS vendor.
Another item talked about Attachmate Extra (3270 printer emulation window)
marketed from "Attachmate" 202-944-4010, Belview, WA. printing to VPS.
There is also a HOW TO in HONE HQ636924 that again refers the customer
to VPS support.

THis article refers to some XCOM LU6.2connectivity software.
Will call customer and FAX this information and refer to VPS.

Solution:

Customer was able to get this working using a length command line to
put the destination out on the command line.

lpr -Pqueue -C:jobn=\#\#\#:d=jes21:user=username:cl=5 filename

jobn= job number
d = jes queue
user= prints on header page
cl = class

Still get jes spool queues not found messages, but things are working.
