Window Icon Box
Reference
Description
A window icon box is a primary window that displays a container with window
icons. Associated with this is the Pack Icons action choice, which packs the
window icons as close as possible to each other within the visible area of a
window icon box.

When to Use
RequiredProvide a window icon box for the user to store window icons.
Guidelines
RequiredMake the window icon box a primary window whose viewing area includes a
container for window icons, scrollable if necessary.
RequiredDo not support the Close choice for the window icon box.
RequiredDesign the window icon of a window placed in the window icon box to be the
same as the window icon would be if it were on the workspace.
RecommendedAssign Ctrl Esc as the shortcut key to display the window icon box and
raise it to the top of the stacking order.
RecommendedWhen a window icon box is provided, minimize all windows (except for the
icon box itself) to the icon box and not to the screen.
RecommendedIf you provide a window icon box, provide only one.
RequiredInclude a Pack Icons choice in the window menu of the icon box.
RequiredMake the Pack Icons choice the default menu item of the window icon
box's window menu.
RequiredThe Pack Icons choice should have the icons arranged in the icon box as
closely as possible in the visible area.
