AIX Version 4.3 Understanding the Diagnostic Subsystem for AIX
get_cpu_model
Purpose
Returns the CPU model number.
Syntax
#include <diag/modid.h>
unsigned int get_cpu_model ( model_code )
int model_code;
Description
The get_cpu_model subroutine gets the
CPU model number.
init_dgodm() must be called before starting this subroutine.
Parameters
model_code |
Attribute stored in the CuAt database for the sys0 model code.
The unsigned integer returned by the function is the raw model code obtained
from the IPL control block. Macros are defined in modid.h. These macros can be used to determine the following information:
Package Type |
Tower, Rack, or Desktop. |
Speed |
Low, Medium, High, or Turbo Charged. |
Machine Type |
Release 1, RSC, Release 2, or PowerPC. |

Return Value
Upon successful completion, the model code
as stored in the iplcb structure is returned. Otherwise, a value of -1
is returned.
