AIX Version 4.3 Package Guide for LPP Installation

Base AIX Terminal Function Package

This package contains the terminal descriptions for various terminals. These descriptions are used by libraries such as curses to obtain information about a terminal's capabilities.

Fileset Names

bos.terminfo.rte Run-Time Environment for AIX Terminals

This fileset installs the terminfo commands, tic, captoinfo, and infocmp. These commands are installed in directory /usr/bin.

The TERMINFO Library package requires approximately 5.3 MB of disk space.

Requisite Software

Install requisite software either before or with the filesets you are installing from this package.

All bos.terminfo.<terminal>.data filesets require that bos.terminfo.rte be installed first. If you select the bos.terminfo package or the automatic pre-req install, this is automatically done for you.

Special Installation Notes

The binaries for the terminal descriptions are installed in the subdirectories below /usr/share/lib/terminfo. Binaries are stored in the subdirectory that matches the first character in the binaries' name. For instance, the terminal descriptions for the IBM 5151 and IBM 5154 terminals are stored in /usr/share/lib/terminfo/i.

The terminfo related commands, captoinfo, tic, and infocmp are packaged in the bos.terminfo.rte fileset and are installed in /usr/bin.
