AIXwindows InfoExplorer and Softcopy Databases Packages

InfoExplorer is a text retrieval tool with several navigation aids to help the user find and manage information. You can use InfoExplorer to learn the AIX operating system and other software and hardware. There are two versions of InfoExplorer: the ASCII interface and the graphics interface. This installation information is only for the graphics interface. For the ASCII version of InfoExplorer installation, refer to the Base System installation guide.

The AIXwindows InfoExplorer Softcopy Databases package contains the databases you access with the InfoExplorer retrieval tool. These databases contain the documentation for AIXwindows and Xstation Manager.

X11.info.rte	AIXwindows InfoExplorer Run-Time Environment This fileset contains binary executables and necessary supporting files that are needed to run InfoExplorer on AIXwindows.

X11.info.Lang.prod_gds	Database - Lang This fileset contains information on using Enhanced X-Windows functions and libraries, designing and implementing products that are consistent with the AIXwindows user interface, writing internationalized applications, customizing the behavior and appearance of the AIXwindows Window Manager, and using the AIXwindows Toolkit.
AIXwindows Technical Reference
X11.info.Lang.tech_ref	Database - Lang This fileset contains reference information on AIXwindows widget classes, functions, and resource sets; Enhanced X-Windows functions, macros, protocols, extensions, and events; and Enhanced X-Windows Toolkit functions and macros.
X11.info.Lang.x_st_mgr.manage_gd	Xstation Manager Administrators Guide - Lang This fileset contains information on the configuration and maintenance of the Xserver program on Xstation 120, Xstation 130, Xstation 140, Xstation 150, and a host computer, using the Xstation Manager program.

Approximate Disk Space Required

The AIXwindows InfoExplorer Run-Time Environment requires approximately .2MB of disk space.

The AIXwindows InfoExplorer Database packages requires approximately 34.2MB of disk space for each language.

Special Installation Notes

Stop the infod daemon before installing another version of the software. Log on as root user and enter:

stopsrc -s infod

The X11.info.en_US filesets requires that the bos.info.en_US.nav fileset be installed first. When the latest level of the bos.info.en_US.nav fileset is installed, the previously installed level of X11.info.en_US is removed. Before installing the X11.info.en_US fileset, refer to the Special Migration Notes section of the bos.info.en_US fileset for more information.
