IBM eseries  pSeries & RS/6000 Microcode Download Procedure
The following procedures explain how to download pSeries and RS/6000 microcode updates.
Download pSeries & RS/6000 Microcode Updates
Use the Download page to:
  1. Find your system and/or adapter in the list provided.

  2. Read the [Description] file to find out more about the microcode update.

    In some cases, this description file will provide details about installing the microcode on a system.

  3. Download the appropriate format of the microcode by clicking on either [AIX format] (if you will be unzipping the file on an AIX system) or [DOS format] (if you will be unzipping the file on a Windows NT or DOS system). or [RPM format] (if you will be unzipping the file on a Lynux system).

  4. Once you selected the piece of microcode to download; you will be redirected to the license agreement page.

  5. After you read and sign the agreement, the download will be completed and you will proceed to unzip the file.

  6. Do one of the following to unzip the microcode file (in some cases you could be asked for a password to unzip the files; the eleven character "case sensitive" password is: **RS/6000**)

      To unzip the file on an AIX system  

    Enter the following commands:
    chmod +x filename.bin
    ./filename.bin

      To unzip the file on a DOS system  

    Enter the following:
    filename

      To unzip the file on a Lynux system  

    Enter the following:
    ???????????

  7. Read and follow the instructions in the README file that comes with the microcode.

    In some cases the README file will provide detailed instructions on installing the microcode.

    In other cases the README file will point to the [Description] file found on the Web page for detailed instructions.
