2.0 General Information

This package provides updated Power Subsystem Firmware for use on the following systems only:

pSeries 9119-590
pSeries 9119-595
iSeries 9406-590
pSeries 9118-575

Do not use on any other systems. The package contains downloadable Firmware for some or all of the following power subsystem components: BPC (Bulk Power Controller), BPR (Bulk Power Regulator), DCA (Distributed Converter Assembly and MDA (Motor Drive Assembly).

2.0.0 Where to Obtain the Firmware

This firmware can be found at the following locations:

From the IBM Tech Support Website as individual files (other.html
) :
1. Look for Power Subsystem for: 9119-595, 9406-595,9119-590, 9118-575 in the Model column
2. Click on RPM(linux) to download the RPM file
3. Click on XML to download the XML file
4. Load both of these files on the HMC (see section 2.0.1 How to Load the Firmware below)
From the IBM Tech Support Website as a CD image
NOTE: This CD image also contains System Firmware

2.0.1 How to Load the Firmware

IMPORTANT NOTE: Before attempting to load this firmware, please ensure that your HMC software has been upgraded to Version 4, Release 4.0 (or newer) and that HMC eFix MH00219 has been applied.

2.1 Cautions and Important Notes

Never Turn Off the UEPO switch (red switch) During the Power Subsystem Firmware Update Process

The update will fail, and the process must be repeated. Also, the power component being loaded could be permanently disabled.

Never Log Off of the HMC During the Power Subsystem Firmware Update Process

The update will fail, and the process must be repeated.
