Ambra - Installing Windows 95 on an Ambra with the Jazz sound card

How do I upgrade my Ambra computer with the Jazz sound card to Windows 95?

Answer:
Follow the steps below.

*** ATTENTION ***
If you follow the steps below, you will lose all your data and program files. The hard drive will no longer contain any personal information. If you have important files you wish to keep, please save them before going any further.

For the operation you will need:

The Windows 95 upgrade CD

Installing Windows 95:

  1. Start the computer and boot into Windows 3.1.
  2. Double click on the Main icon or window, then double click on File Manager.
  3. Insert the Windows 95 upgrade CD.
  4. Click on the CD-ROM drive in File Manager.
  5. Double click on the Setup.exe file from the listing of files.
  6. Agree with the license terms.
  7. At the installation wizard, click on Next.
  8. Accept the default directory as C:\WINDOWS, then click on Next.
  9. At the Save System Files prompt, click on Next.
  10. For the Setup Options, choose Typical and choose Next.
  11. Enter your user information (name and company, if required), then click on Next.
  12. Enter the CD KEY number and then click on Next.
  13. At the network adapter, click on Next.
  14. At the Get Connected window, click on Next.
  15. At the Windows Components, just click on Next.
  16. For the Startup Disk, click on Next to create a start-up disk.
  17. Click on Next to copy the files to the disk.
  18. Click on OK to create the disk.
  19. Click on OK when the disk is created.
  20. When it's done copying the files, click on Finish.
  21. Remove the floppy disk and click OK.
  22. At the Time Zone settings, set the appropriate time zone.
  23. Click on Apply when the time zone is set.
  24. Click on OK when done.
  25. At the Welcome Screen, click on Close. You will have installed Windows 95 now.

Installing the sound card:
(The sound card should be detected automatically by the Windows 95 installation. If not follow the steps below )

  1. Click on Start, choose Settings and select Control Panel.
  2. Double click on the System icon.
  3. Click on the Device Manager tab.
  4. Double click on the Sound, Video and Game Controllers option.
  5. Highlight the first item under that option, then click on Remove.
  6. Click on OK to confirm the remove.
  7. Close the Device manager.
  8. Double click on the Add New Hardware icon from the Control Panel.
  9. Click on Next.
  10. Click on NO.
  11. Click on Next.
  12. From the list of hardware, choose Sound, Video and Game Controllers.
  13. Then from the list of manufacturers, choose Media Vision.
  14. From the list of models, choose Media Vision Pro Deluxe/JAZZ 16 Driver.
  15. Insert the Windows 95 CD if it is not in the CD-ROM drive.
  16. Click on Next.
  17. Click on Next again at the following window.
  18. Then click on Finish.
  19. Click on Yes to restart the computer. When the system restarts, you are done.
