PCMCIA WaveRunner ISDN/Analog Modem - Installation

Installing the WaveRunner Adapter:

  1. Do not insert the WaveRunner PCMCIA card into the slot, yet!
  2. Double-click Network in the Control Panel.
  3. Verify the Network Control Panel has the Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP Protocol installed. If they are not installed, see Installing Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP.
  4. Click Add to select the Network Component Type.
  5. Select Adapter and click Add.
  6. Choose Have Disk to Select Network adapters
  7. At the Install From Disk prompt, insert WaveRunner ISDN Adapter Installation Disk 1 and click Ok.
  8. Click Ok to install the WaveRunner ISDN Adapter. Insert other disks as prompted.
  9. The Network Control Panel should now have the WaveRunner ISDN Adapter and NDISWAN-> WaveRunner ISDN Adapter installed. Click OK.
  10. Click the Connection tab and fill out the screen with information provided by the ISDN Telephone Service Provider.
  11. Click Ok to complete the installation. The user may be prompted for the Windows 95 CD or diskettes.
  12. Select Yes when prompted to reboot. Once rebooted, insert the WaveRunner PCMCIA Card. Reboot as directed.
  13. To verify the installation, double-click System under Control Panel and select the Device Manager tab. Click View devices by connection. Expand PCIC or compatible PCMCIA controller to view WaveRunner PCMCIA ISDN/Analog Modem. This entry should have two children, MWAVE DSP Loader and WaveRunner PCMCIA MODEM.

ISA Installation:
Installing the WaveRunner Adapter:

  1. Double-click Network in the Control Panel
  2. Verify the Network Control Panel has the Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP Protocol installed. If they are not installed, see Installing Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP.
  3. Click Add to select the Network Component Type
  4. Select Adapter and click Add.
  5. Choose Have Disk to Select Network adapters
  6. At the Install From Disk prompt, insert WaveRunner ISDN Adapter Installation Disk 1 and click Ok.
  7. Click Ok to install the WaveRunner ISDN Adapter. Insert other disks as prompted.
  8. The Network Control Panel should now have the WaveRunner ISDN Adapter and NDISWAN-> WaveRunner ISDN Adapter installed. Click Ok.
  9. Choose the appropriate values for the Analog Adapter Properties and set the dip switches on the adapter according to the settings and the WaveRunner Digital Modem Installation and Testing Instructions. Do not set switches on the adapter while the adapter is physically installed and the computer is on. The adapter revision level is silk screened on the adapter itself.
  10. Click the Connection tab and fill out the screen with information provided by the ISDN Telephone Service Provider.
  11. Click Ok to complete the installation. The user may be prompted for the Windows 95 CD or diskettes.
  12. If the adapter is physically installed in the machine with the proper dip switch settings, select Yes when prompted to reboot the machine. If the adapter has not yet been installed or if the dip switches are incorrect, select No and then shutdown and turn off the machine. Set the correct dip switch settings and install the adapter. Turn the machine back on.
  13. If installing the WaveRunner 14400 Modem, continue with Installing the WaveRunner 14400 Modem after rebooting.

Installing the WaveRunner 14400 Modem:

  1. Double-click Modems in the Control Panel. If there are modems already installed, choose Add on the Modems Properties Page to invoke the Install New Modem Wizard. If no modems are installed, the Wizard will appear directly from double-clicking Modems on the Control Panel.
  2. Choose Don't detect my modem and click Next.
  3. Select WaveRunner Technologies as the Manufacturer and select the WaveRunner Internal MODEM and click Next.
  4. Choose the COM port that the modem will use and click Next. This COM port should be the same one as selected for the WaveRunner ISDN Adapter. Click Finish to complete the installation.
  5. Click Ok to exit the Modems Properties screen.

MicroChannel Installation:
Installing the WaveRunner Adapter
  1. Double-click Network in the Control Panel.
  2. Verify the Network Control Panel has the Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP Protocol installed. If they are not installed, see Installing Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP.
  3. Click Add to select the Network Component Type.
  4. Select Adapter and click Add.
  5. Choose Have Disk to Select Network adapters.
  6. At the Install From Disk prompt, insert WaveRunner ISDN Adapter Installation Disk 1 and click Ok.
  7. Click Ok to install the WaveRunner ISDN Adapter. Insert other disks as prompted.
  8. The Network Control Panel should now have the WaveRunner ISDN Adapter and NDISWAN-> WaveRunner ISDN Adapter installed. Click Ok.
  9. Click the Connection tab and fill out the screen with information provided by the ISDN Telephone Service Provider.
  10. Click Ok to complete the installation. The user may be prompted for the Windows 95 CD or diskettes.

If the adapter is physically installed in the machine, select Yes when prompted to reboot the machine. If the adapter has not yet been installed, select No and then shutdown and turn off the machine. Install the adapter and Turn the machine back on.

If installing the WaveRunner 14400 Modem, continue with Installing the WaveRunner 14400 Modem after rebooting.

Installing the WaveRunner 14400 Modem:

  1. Double-click Modems in the Control Panel. If there are modems already installed, choose Add on the Modems Properties Page to invoke the Install New Modem Wizard. If no modems are installed, the Wizard will appear directly from double-clicking Modems on the Control Panel.
  2. Choose Don't detect my modem and click Next.
  3. Select WaveRunner Technologies as the Manufacturer and select the WaveRunner Internal MODEM and click Next.
  4. Choose the COM port that the modem will use and click Next. This COM port should be the same one as selected for the WaveRunner ISDN Adapter. Click Finish to complete the installation.
  5. Click Ok to exit the Modems Properties screen.

Installing Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP:

  1. Double-click Network on the Control Panel. Choose Add and select Adapter on the Select Network Component Screen. Choose Add again to display the list of manufacturers. Select Microsoft's Dialup Adapter and click OK.
  2. Once the Dial-Up adapter has been installed, add Microsoft's TCP/IP using the same procedure as for the Dial-Up Adapter (select Protocol rather than Adapter)

Using Dial-Up Networking:
ISDN Connection:

  1. Double-click Dial-Up Networking in My Computer. Then double-click Make New Connection to invoke the New Connection Wizard. Type a name and select one of the WaveRunner-Linex entries as the modem. Click Next and follow the screen instructions.
  2. Double-click your new connection to initiate a call.

14400 Connection on ISDN line:

  1. Follow the instructions for creating a dial-up connection as described for the ISDN connection. Use the WaveRunner Internal MODEM for ISA/MCA or the WaveRunner PCMCIA MODEM for PCMCIA.
  2. Start the Modem Applet from the Start Menu (Start -> Programs -> WaveRunner ISDN Modem)
  3. Double-click your new dial-up connection.
