ISA WaveRunner Adapter - Installation instructions for Windows 95 (OSR2)

Pre-Install:
1. If you receive diskettes, copy all files to a directory you created on your hard disk drive. (ex: c:\temp\ or c:\isdnwave\).
2. If you downloaded from an on-line site, you can expand the Windows 95 WaveRunner installation file (wrisa529.exe) by going to the folder where the file is located, then double-clicking the icon or you can go to the task bar, select Start_Run and type in the full path and filename (ex: C:\TEMP\WRISA529.EXE ) and click 'OK'.

Files which should be present after expanding wrisa529.exe are:

Be sure the resources needed for the WaveRunner adapter are free for use under Windows 95 WaveRunner can be used only on COM1 or COM2.

Important
You will need to install the Microsoft ISDN Accelerator Pack in order to install the adapter. This can be done using MSISDN11.EXE, as noted in the instructions to follow. Be sure to remove any existing WaveRunner installations before installing or re-installing.

Installation
For instructions installing the ISDN Accelerator Pack, start with step B., presuming all existing WaveRunner installation has been removed. If the Accelerator Pack is already installed, you do not need to install it again, so go on to step C.

A. Remove any existing WaveRunner installation (if applicable)
1. Open the folder where WaveRunner installation is located, and double-click the WRUNINST icon
2. A panel will pop up to read: "You are about to remove the WaveRunner ISDN modem. Do you wish to continue?". Click 'yes'.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

B. Install MSISDN11.EXE, Microsoft ISDN Accelerator Pack 1.1 (if applicable)
1. Open the folder where WaveRunner installation is located, find the MSISDN11 icon and double-click.
2. A panel asking "Are you sure you want to install Microsoft ISDN Accelerator Pack 1.1?" will appear. Click 'yes'.
3. The Microsoft Licensing Agreement panel will appear. Read and click 'yes' to continue the installation.
4. A 'Microsoft ISDN Accelerator Pack 1.1' panel will read: "If you are installing an ISDN adapter, you should refer to the setup directions provided by the manufacturer". Click 'OK'.
5. Next panel: "you must restart the computer for these changes to take effect. Do you want to restart now?" Click 'yes'.

C. Install the WaveRunner ISDN Adapter in the Control Panel_Network applet
1. Goto Start_Settings_Control Panel, double-click the Network icon.
2. Click the 'Add' button.
3. From the 'Select Network Component Type' panel, click the 'Adapter' choice to highlight, then click 'Add'.
4. From the 'Select Network adapters' panel, click 'Have Disk...'
5. From 'Install From Disk' panel, in the space titled 'Copy manufacturer's files from:' delete whatever is in the space (most likely an A:\) and type in the drive and path where you stored the ISDN and WaveRunner installation files (ex: c:\temp) and click 'OK'.
6. From the 'Select Network adapters' panel, be sure the WaveRunner ISDN Adapter is highlighted by clicking on the name... click 'OK'
7. The installation program will copy/install the files. When this is completed, you should be returned to the 'WaveRunner ISDN Adapter Properties' panel.
Note: If the panel does not appear, click 'OK' until you are back at the 'Network' panel, where the WaveRunner ISDN Adapter name should now appear in the list. Highlight the adapter and click the 'Properties' button.
8. At the 'WaveRunner ISDN Properties' panel, click on the 'Hardware' button and write down the settings, as shown, for reference later, then place a check mark in the 'enable COM port' box if one is not there already.
9. Click the 'Connection' tab and supply the screen information. Be sure the Switch, Line, and SPID information are correct. Click 'OK'
Note: The installation program will go no further until the Line and SPID are entered. The only choice is to cancel the install.
10. Click 'OK' to close the 'Network' panel. Select 'No' when prompted to restart. Shut down Windows 95 and turn off the computer.

D. Physically install the adapter in the computer
1. Be sure the computer is turned off.
2. Set the dip switches to correspond with the settings you wrote down from section C, number 8 above.
3. Open the computer.
4. Install the adapter into an available ISA slot on the computer, making sure it is firmly seated.
5. Close the computer.
6. Power on the computer.

E. Install the WaveRunner Internal Modem in Control Panel_Modems
1. Click 'Start_Settings_Control Panel' and double click 'System' icon, then click on the 'Device Manager' tab. Be sure the COM port you are going to use for the modem is enabled (no red 'x').
2. Click 'OK', go back to Control Panel and double-click the 'Modems' icon.
3. Click the 'Add' button.
4. At the 'Install New Modem' panel, place a check mark in the "Don't run the Hardware Installation Wizard" box, click 'Next'.
5. Click a check mark in the "Don't detect my modem; I will detect it from a list" box, and click 'Next'.
6. Scroll down the 'Manufacturers' list until you find 'WaveRunner Technologies' and click the name one time.
7. Under 'Models', click once to highlight 'WaveRunner Internal Modem' and click 'Next'.
8. Be sure the 'WaveRunner Internal Modem' is listed in the "You have selected the following modem:" box; then click once to highlight the port of your choice under "Select the port to use with this modem:", and click 'Next'.
9. You should get a "Please wait..." screen, and then "Your modem has been set up successfully". Click Finish.

F. Install the WaveRunner V120 Modem in Control Panel_Modems
1. Repeat steps 1 thru 6 from section E above.
2. Repeat steps 7 and 8 from section E above, except replace the term 'WaveRunner Internal Modem' with 'WaveRunner V120 Modem'.
3. After "Your modem has been set up successfully", click 'Finish'.

Installation of the ISA WaveRunner ISDN Modem is now complete. You will need to configure your Network Terminator Extended if you have not done so already.
