IBM PS/2 - 80286/80386 using XMA2EMS.SYS
Applicable to: World-Wide
DOS MEMORY MANAGEMENT - MEMORY IN INTEL 80286/80386 SYSTEMS
In order to use the XMA2EMS driver, you must have one of the following EMS capable adapters installed;
IBM 2MB Expanded Memory Adapter
IBM Personal System/2 80286 Expanded Memory Adapter /A
IBM Personal System/2 Memory Expansion Option
Any 80386 based system with the XMAEM.SYS device driver loaded
If you have a non-IBM Expanded Memory Adapter, you should use the Expanded Memory Driver that came with the card. Support for that card will also come from the maufacturer... Not IBM.
The following examples enable you to set up expanded memory on your 80286 system assuming you have one of the adapters listed in the previous section. This statement allows you to set up four pages; P0,P1,P2 and P3, beginning at location D000, with one FRAME=d000.
device=c:\dos\xma2ems.sys frame=d000
The next statement allows you to set up the pages seperately.
device=c:\dos\xma2ems.sys p0=d000 p1=d400 p2=d800 p3=dc00
The last example allows you to set up a page at C000 and use the minimum amount (64KB) of expanded memory.
device=c:\dos\xma2ems.sys frame=c000 /x:4
