IBM PC300GL (Type 6272) - IBM PCI WoL Adapter may not wake up system (EMEA Only)
Applicable to: EMEA
SYMPTOM:
The adapter will sometimes hang in an improper state during system power off, resulting in an inability to perform WoL functions.
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
This is a machine specific problem with the IBM PC300GL Series 6272 systems ONLY, and the IBM PCI Wake on LAN Token-Ring Adapter.
The problem appears to be a compatibility issue with the IBM PC300GL Series 6272, and the IBM PCI Wake on LAN Token-Ring Adapter.
It appears to be related to an interaction between the smaller power supply used in the IBM PC300GL Series 6272, and the IBM PCI Wake on LAN Token-Ring Adapter. Changing to an IBM PC300GL (6282, 6284, 6267, 6277, 6287, or 6265) or IBM PC300PL(6275 or 6285), or, by changing to the IBM 16/4 Token-Ring PCI Adapter-2 will eliminate the failure.
FIX:
This is a machine specific problem with the IBM PC300GL Series 6272 systems ONLY, and the IBM PCI Wake on LAN Token-Ring Adapter.
A replacement adapter is available under IBM FRU P/N 31L3426.
