IBM IntelliStation/IBM PC - How to recover the original CONFIG.SYS file in OS/2 Warp version 3
Applicable to: World-Wide
How to recover the original config.sys in OS/2 Warp version 3:
To restore the config.sys file created during the installation of OS/2:
1. Boot the system from the hard drive.
2. When the white block and OS/2 appear in the upper left corner of the screen, press Alt+F1.
3. Choose "C" for Command Prompt. This will display the OS/2 logo and then stop at a [C:\] prompt.
4. Type "copy config.sys config.ibm" and hit the "Enter" key. You will receive a message "1 file(s) copied."
This creates a backup copy of the current CONFIG.SYS file.
5. Type "copy c:\os2\install\config.sys c:\config.sys". You will receive a message "1 file(s) copied."
NOTE: (If os/2 is installed on a different drive, use the letter for that drive instead of C: for example, if OS/2 is installed on the D: drive, type: "copy d:\os2\install\config.sys d:\config.sys".) This will copy back the CONFIG.SYS file created when OS/2 was installed.
6. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to reboot the computer.
If this does not correct the problem you can restore your previous CONFIG.SYS file by repeating steps 1-3 above and then typing "copy config.ibm config.sys".
