IBM Intellistation/IBM PC - LAN Client Control Manager (LCCM) Server/Workstation Installation

Applicable to: World-Wide

This document explains how to install LAN Client Control Manager (LCCM) to a Windows NT 4.0 server.

For Server or Workstation installation:
1. From the directory into which you downloaded and unpacked the LAN Client Control Manager installation files, run the SETUP.EXE program. The installation Welcome screen appears. Click on Next.

2. At the Installation Type prompt, select one of the following:

If you are using the server's keyboard and monitor as the administrator console, select Perform Server Installation.

If you are using a client workstation as the administrator's console, select Perform Remote Workstation Installation only. This installs all required files on your LCCM server. You must be logged on to the administrator console with administrator privileges.

If you want to run LAN Client Control Manager from a client workstation, select Perform Remote Workstation Installation only.
If you select this option, you must first install LAN Client Control Manager on the server using the Perform Server Installation option. Remember, you must be logged on with administrator privileges for any of these options.

3. Select type of installation. These instructions are for a custom installation. Select Custom and click Next.

4. At the Choose LCCM Destination Directory dialog box, type the directory name where you want LCCM to be installed. In most cases, it is best to accept the default directory of C:\LCCM. Click on Next.

5. At the Request Server Name prompt, type in the name of the server that you are presently on, ensuring that the name is spelled correctly. There must be no spaces in the server name. If the server name contains a space, the server must be renamed to something without a space in it.

6. The Confirm Windows System32 Directory dialog box appears requesting the directory path of the SYSTEM32 directory. Accept the default and click on Next.

7. The Request Server Name dialog box appears again. Type the server name of the server on which you want to install LCCM. Then, click on Next.
