IBM IntelliStation/IBM PC - How to restore Master Boot Record and boot files in Windows 95

The Master Boot Record can be restored through any DOS prompt. In order to restore the system files, you must boot the system with a Windows 95 startup disk. The startup disk MUST be the same version of Windows 95 in order to "sys" the drive.
1. Boot computer with a Windows 95 startup disk. During boot process, you will see a blue IBM logo. Immediately after this screen, you will see a black screen with "Starting Windows 95..." in the top left corner.
2. Before restoring the MBR, ensure that you have run a current anti-virus on the hard drive.
3. To restore the Master Boot Record: At the A:\> prompt, type "fdisk/mbr" and press "Enter" key. If you return to the A:\ prompt with out any messages, the MBR has been restored.
4. To restore the System files in DOS Mode: At the A:\> prompt, type "sys c:" and press "Enter" key. After a moment you will see a message, "System transferred".
5. Remove the Windows 95 startup disk and reboot computer.
