Aptiva - Maximum hard drive size matrix

Applicable to: World-Wide

This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of specific drive manufacturers and models, but rather a general listing of the maximum drive size supported by the system assuming the drive meets the required geometry specifications.
In all cases below the customer should be at the latest BIOS level when applicable.

Please note: The planars in the table above use CHS drive geometry and should support any HD up to 4 gigabytes. However, these boards will support drives from 4-8 gigabytes assuming the drive has only 15 heads. Note, the FAT 16 two gigabyte partition limitation still applies in all cases.

Please note: The above planars support LBA drive geometry and with the latest BIOS should support DASD up to 8 gigabytes However in order to have Rapid Resume function properly the primary drive on the system must have only 15 heads as the Rapid Resume code is limited to CHS drive geometry for drives between 4GB and 8GB. Note, the FAT 16 two gigabyte partition limitation still applies in all cases.
