TP 770 - How to use a TP 770 with a SelectaDock I/II/III

Applicable to: World-Wide

SYMPTOM:
Attempting to connect the ThinkPad 770 to the SelectaDock I, II, or III.

SOLUTION:
The ThinkPad 770 can support the Select-a-dock I, II, or III, however, there are some considerations that you must follow.

When using the ThinkPad 770 with any SelectaDock configuration, you must use the SelectaBase 770. The SelectaBase 770(Port Replicator) extends the capabilities of your computer and allows you to dock the ThinkPad 770 in a SelectaDock I/II/III.

The SelectaDock III supports the ThinkPad 760E/ED/EL/ELD/XD/XL,765D/L and 770. When any other model is docked to the SelectaDock III, a beep sounds to indicate the configuration is not supported.

When using the ThinkPad 770 and the SelectaBase 770 attached to a SelectaDock I or II, the system AC Adapter Must be connected to the SelectaBase 770. If not you will hear the same beeping sequence indicating that there is an error.

When using the ThinkPad 770 and SelectaBase 770 attached to a SelectaDock III the system AC Adapter is NOT used. The SelectaDock III generates enough output power to supply both the SelectaDock III and the supported model of ThinkPads.

NOTE:
Port Replicator means the SelectaBase 770, SelectaDock means the SelectaDock I/II/III and the SelectaDock Docking System means the port replicator and the SelectaDock when docked together as one unit.
