IBM WorkPad - Checking Cradle Performance via Terminal Emulation
Applicable to: United States
SYMPTOM:
One method of properly checking a cradle performance is to run a Windows Terminal Emulation Program. Running this program will determine if input was received from the WorkPad cradle when you clicked the HotSync button.
SOLUTION:
Ensure that HotSync Manager is closed before launching the Terminal Program, and place your WorkPad in the cradle.
In Windows 95 Applications follow the procedure below:
1. Run Hypertrm.exe
2. Name your session, select OK
3. At the Phone Number screen, under Connect Using select "Direct to (COM 2; or the COM Port used for your WorkPad Cradle)", select OK
4. At the Port Settings screen select Bits per second: 9600; Data Bits: 8; Parity: None; Stop Bits: 1; Flow Control: None; select OK
5. Click the HotSync button on your cradle and you should see "gibberish" float across the screen, verifying that your WorkPad and cradle are functioning properly
