CD-ROM (Non IBM) - 1762 POST errors

Problem:
CD-ROM errors or POST 1762 error.
Analysis:
Some OEM manufacturers are providing 24" long IDE cables in their CD-ROM kits. The IDE specification calls for a maximum cable length or 18".
Solution:
1. Attach the CD-ROM as secondary on the primary IDE port using the system IDE cable.
2. Replace the 24" cable with an 18" cable. You should contact the place of purchase or OEM CD-ROM technical support.
