7. Follow on-screen instructions

Note: The RECOVERY directory may be deleted once backup has been run. To be safe, you should first try a Restore,

Recovery Directory
All 2133 machines come pre-loaded with a RECOVERY directory. This directory contains ZIP files which hold compressed copies of all the original pre-load software.

If the customer has lost or corrupted any of his original files they can be restored as follows:

At a DOS prompt, type the following:
CD \RECOVERY
pkunzip *.zip -o -d c:\ dirname\filename.ext
Be sure to leave a space after the c:\

CAUTION:
If you are going to restore Window System files please be warned that all customisation will be lost. You will need to re-install any Window software that you have added to the system as well as rebuild icons for any of the DOS programs.

Restoring Original Software
Warning: If you have upgraded to MS-DOS 6.2; manually restore the software using PKUNZIP, DO NOT restore the DOS files unless the HD has been re-formatted; in which case you may proceed as below and then re-install MS-DOS 6.2

1. Insert the Recovery Disk in drive A: and re-boot
2. Select Restore Original Software
Note: The system will ask from where the Restore should occur; if the \RECOVERY directory has been deleted from the Hard Drive, say NO to the first prompt and YES to the second.

Bypassing PS/1 Logo
To remove the PS/1 Logo from the normal boot procedure; edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT and REM out c:/ps1tools/hwcheck
The HWCHECK program runs routines that analyse the hardware on your system and writes the results to a data file. The data file is used by the System Information program in PS/1 Fitness. The only impact on removing it is that the System Information will not remain current when you add or remove hardware.

Printing Problems
1. Error: Application cannot access printer, or printer is not ready.
Usually occurs if the Sound Source batteries are dead. Replace the 9-volt battery or remove the Sound Source.

2. Error: Printer on LPT1 is busy.
This error may occur if you are trying to print from a Windows application while playing sounds through the Disney Sound Source.
The error occurs because of a limitation in the Sound Source hardware.
Try changing the Windows Printer Port (via Control Panel/Printers/Port) to LPT1.DOS. This may correct the problem.

3. Error: When printing from Aladdin Print Kit or other Disney applications, borders, etc. do not fit on one page.
Ensure that the correct printer has been selected or one that closely matches your printer. If the printer is a 24-pin dot-matrix you may continue to experience problems. The printer drivers that shipped with the Disney Software are for 9-pin dot-matrix printers.

Lost some or all of the Disney Icons
The system is missing some or all of the Disney Application Icons

1. Double-click on the Disney Software Icon in Windows.
2. Press CTRL+O. You will see the Disney Setup program.
3. Select Programs. You will see a list of available Disney programs.
4. Click on the radio button to select a program. A 'black bullet' inside the radio button indicates the program is selected.
