TP General - FAT32 support on IBM ThinkPads
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
Is FAT32 supported on IBM ThinkPads?
CONFIGURATION:
Any IBM ThinkPad running Windows 95 OSR2 or Windows 98.
SOLUTION:
Yes. FAT 32 is a supported file system for IBM ThinkPads.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Currently, the Recovery CD that ships with some ThinkPads do not support the recovery process to a FAT32 partition. For this reason, IBM recommends that the primary partition on the hard drive remain a FAT16 partition, however any additional partitions may be converted to FAT32. It is also recommended that the hibernation file reside on a FAT16 partition, although it will work if installed on a FAT32 partition.
