IBM PC - OS/2 Warp Connect hangs at boot

Applicable to: World-Wide

SYMPTOM:
You are running OS/2 Warp Connect and experience intermittent hangs on boot with a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
You are running OS/2 Warp Connect with fix pack 23 or less.

This condition has been observed on IBM Commercial Desktop and IBM Thinkpad systems with 166MHz MMX processors and 200MHz MMX processors.

FIX:
DO NOT REPLACE HARDWARE UNTIL THE CURRENT FIX PACK HAS BEEN INSTALLED.

Apply the current OS/2 Warp Connect fix pack.

At this time (June 1997) the current OS/2 Warp Connect fix pack is 26 (FP26).

Fix pack files can be downloaded from the IBM BBS at 919-517-0001 or from the following web site:
http://www.us.pc.ibm.com/files.html

To obtain fix pack 26, download all files beginning with XR_W026. Also download files WKICKR.ZIP and WKICKR.TXT.

This condition may be seen on additional 166MHz and faster Pentium processors.
