FEATURE:

DESCRIPTION

MICROPROCESSOR:

166MHz Pentium processor with MMX technology. All models have 256K L2 cache.

MEMORY DEVICES:

32MB of system memory(RAM) is standard, depending on model, and can be expanded up to 104MB. Please refer to the 760XD/XL User's Guide for more information. Two internal slots are provided for the Memory Modules in the memory module adapter that is located under the hard disk drive. One or two 144 pin, 64 bit Memory Module(s)- (Memory Module = Extended Data Out, Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module) of 3.3 volt, nonparity technology can be installed in the system for memory expansion.

STORAGE DEVICES:

760XD: comes standard with 8x removeable CD-ROM drive. A 3.0GB HD is standard.
760XL: CD-ROM drive is optional. A 2.1GB HD is standard.

EXTERNAL DISPLAY:

External display port for connecting one of the supported VGA or SVGA displays that may be used in desktop environment instead of the LCD that is standard with the system. Also supporting an attachment of ISO 9241-3 enabled IBM monitors. Dual Display of LCD and an external display is also supported.

LCD ICON DISPLAYS:

There are nine (9) LCD Icons that graphically inform the users of the satus of key features of the system. Please refer to the Users Guide for pictures and the detail of the function of these icons. A short description of these icons is: 1. Speaker, 2. Fuel guage (Day, Hour, %), 3. Fuel guage for primary battery, 4. Fuel guage for secondary battery, 5. FDD, 6. HDD, 7. Num Lock, 8. CAPS Lock, 9. Scroll Lock.

AUDIO:

760XD: Audio Chip: Mwave MDSP2780 DSP.
760XL: Audio Chip: ESS1688.
Both models are Sound Blaster compatible and have two bulit in speakers.

AUDIO PORT:

Provides for the connection of external stereo speakers/headphones and microphone.

KEYBOARD:

84 key keyboard with imbedded numeric keypad and integrated TrackPoint(TM)III which emulates all the mouse functions. It sits between the "G" and "H" keys. The IBM ThinkPad 760XL new models systems support the attachment of external keyboards. In particular, the IBM Enhanced Keyboard with PS/2 Style Cable (PN 92G7453 FN 2289) and the IBM ThinkPad Space Saver Keyboard (PN 84G2524 FN 2298).

EXTERNAL INTERFACE:

The external input device port can have the following devices connected: IBM PS/2 Miniature Mouse (#5443, P/N 07G0033); IBM PS/2 Numeric Keypad (#5445, P/N 07G0032); IBM PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse Connector (#3145, P/N 54G0441). The IBM Keyboard/Mouse Connector is required when attaching an external keyboard and attaching an external keyboard and mouse

MODEM:

760XD: DSP Modem. Upto 33.6Kbs with latest Mwave drivers.
760XL: PCMCIA modem is optional.

SERIAL PORT:

Serial device port for connecting serial devices such as an external Modem.

PARALLEL PORT:

Enhanced Parallel device port for connecting devices such as printers.

INFRARED PORT:

Provides a wireless connection to devices, such as other notebook and desk top Personal Computers, via IR, that are equipped with the IBM, Hewlett Packard, or Sharp IR transceiver. The 760XD/XL has been designed for compliance with the IrDA (Infrared Data Association) data link specification version 1.0 for IRLMP, IRLAP, and IR physical signaling. Uses include transfering files, etc. The system supports three modes of operation: IBM mode (from 576 Kbps to 1.15 Mbps), HP mode (from 9600 bps to 115 Kbps), Sharp mode (9600 bps) Preinstalled software provides wireless file transfer, file synchronization, and clipboard data transfer. With the IR feature, data can be exchanged with the following systems by using the indicated vendor software packages: Omnibook 300 - LapLink Remote Access, HP 100LX/200LX - Connectivity Pack for the HP 100LX, Sharp Wizard/Zaurus - PC Interface Software, 9000 Link for PCs OZ-990 (W)

PCMCIA SLOT:

The IBM ThinkPad 760XD/XL new models systems, conforms to the PCMCIA Standard 95 and provides Cardbus support. Other PCMCIA adapters that comply with this standard may also function, but have not been tested by IBM. PCMCIA Controller: TI PCI1130.2 & IBM "Zipang" Chips

SYSTEM EXPANSION:

Provides connection to the following IBM Docking Solutions: Dock I - Portable docking station with an AT card slot and a bay, Dock II - Desktop docking station with AT card slots, bays and PCMCIA slots, Port Replicator Model I - Cable management with a Type III PCMCIA slot, Port Replicator Model II - Cable management only, IBM SelectaDock Base Model 1, IBM SelectaDock I, IBM SelectaDock II. When these systems are used with the IBM ThinkPad Dock I or II, the ThinkPad IDE conversion card option (P/N 46H5994) is required to access the IDE devices in these docking solutions.

STANDARD BATTERY:

Li-Ion battery pack: 10.8 V, 2.8 AH, 710 mAH/cell, 12 cell/pack. The Li-Ion Battery Pack II is standard and also an optional feature for the 760XD/XL. The Li-Ion battery approximate operation hours and charging hours are: Power off/suspend charging - 1.5-2.5 hrs, Charging during operation - 2.0-3.0 hrs.

BATTERY LIFE:

Results obtained using BAPCo (Business Applications Performance Corporation) SYSMark Benchmark test. Battery life (and recharge times) will vary based on many factors including, screen brightness, applications, features, power management, battery conditioning, and other customer preferences.

IMPORTANT:

The Li-Ion or NiMH batteries for the IBM ThinkPad 755 Family will not work in any IBM ThinkPad 760 system.
