TP 750,755C/CS - DOS sound support issues
Applicable to: EMEA
Description:
Problem: The CS4231 sound card cannot be addressed under DOS.
Solution:
The following line should be present in the CONFIG.SYS:
DEVICE=C:\IBMAUDIO\AUDIODD\TPAUDDD.SYS
In addition, if games are to be run using the sound card, C:\IBMAUDIO\VDD\SVAUDIO.SYS must be installed. There is also a program called BOOTDISK.BAT, located in the same directory, that creates a boot disk with the necessary files in the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT, so that games can be used. There is a README file in the C:\IBMAUDIO directory that contains a list of games that have been tested with this sound chip. The sound chip will sometimes not work with some games, as the direct hardware access causes problems.
