TP 760 - Fatal Exception 0E/0D removing PNP Bios on Windows 95
Applicable to: World-Wide
Service Information:
If you remove the PNP BIOS on a ThinkPad 760 running Windows 95, you may get a Fatal Exception 0E or 0D when you reboot the system. If you get this error, boot into safe mode, or to the command prompt, and edit the SYSTEM.INI file. In the [386Enh] section, comment out the three lines loading from the CSW subdirectory. The three lines are
device=C:\CSW\cssafe95.386
device=C:\CSW\csldr.386
device=C:\CSW\csdvxd.386
After you comment these lines out, reboot the system. It should then proceed with the automatic hardware detection.
After the hardware detection process has completed, you can edit the SYSTEM.INI file and re-enable these drivers.
