K56Flex modems are designed to be capable of receiving data at up to 56Kbps from a K56Flex compatible service provider. 56K (v.90 compatible) modems are capable of receiving data at up to 56Kbps from a V.90 or K56Flex compatible service provider. Both modems are capable of transmitting data at up to about 33.6Kbps. Public networks currently limit maximum download speeds to about 53 Kbps. Actual speeds depend on many factors and are often less than the maximum possible.
