ABOUT CONFIGPRO VERSION 1.0i ConfigPro is a tool for creating and validating requirements- based solutions that consist of IBM PC Company products. It replaces the ICPA configurator in the US and Latin America countries. You can run the program under IBM OS/2 or Microsoft Windows. ConfigPro has two components, SalesBUILDER(c) for Windows and QuoteBUILDER(c) for Windows. Use SalesBUILDER to: - Open a new or existing QuoteSheet - Specify the customer name, address, and other information - Specify the required systems and optional components for the solution - Validate the system configuration - Save the QuoteSheet Use QuoteBUILDER to: - View, edit, and print the QuoteSheet - Activate the Product Browser to search for options that are not configured in a system but need to be on the QuoteSheet PREPARING YOUR COMPUTER To run ConfigPro, your computer must have the following hardware and software: - a 486 processor or higher - 12MB of system memory, 24MB is recommended - 15MB of free space on the hard drive - One of the following operating systems: IBM Operating System (OS/2) Version 2.11 or higher Microsoft Windows 3.11 or higher Microsoft Windows 95 Microsoft Windows NT INSTALLING CONFIGPRO To install ConfigPro under Windows: - Create a new directory on your hard disk called x:\cfgtemp (where x is the drive location). - Download the CONFPWIN.EXE file to the x:\cfgtemp directory. - Go to the Windows Program Manager and select File-Run. In Windows 95, select Start-Run instead. - In the Run dialog, type x:\cfgtemp\confpwin and then select OK to expand the executable file. - Again in the Run Dialog, type x:\cfgtemp\setup and then select OK. - Follow the instructions displayed by the setup program to perform installation. - When the installation program is finished, delete the configurator installation files in the x:\cfgtemp directory. To install ConfigPro under OS/2 in the Win-OS/2 Full Screen: - Create a new directory on your hard disk called x:\cfgtemp (where x is the drive location). - Download the CONFPOS2.EXE file to x:\cfgtemp directory. - Open an OS/2 Full Screen window. At the command prompt, make the current drive and directory x:\cfgtemp. Then, type confpos2 to expand the executable file. - Type confinst to start the installation program. - When prompted, select option 1 to install the program and create an icon on the desktop. Follow the instructions in the installation program. - After ConfigPro is installed, the OS/2 Full Screen window appears again. Follow the instructions in the prompts to specify the drive location for ConfigPro. That information is used to create a program icon on your OS/2 desktop. - When the installation program is finished, delete the configurator installation files in the x:\cfgtemp directory. DOWNLOADING WEEKLY UPDATES The IBM PC Company announces new products, withdraws products, and changes product prices regularly. It is absolutely critical that you perform weekly updates to the data used by ConfigPro. Updates to the data are available every Wednesday on the BBS, PCTOOLS, Marketing Essentials, and the PC Reseller Home Page. To determine the date of the product and pricing data you are currently using, check the Prices As Of Date in the Requirements tab or in the QuoteSheet. To Refresh IBM Product and Price Information: - Create a new directory on your hard disk called x:\cfgtemp (where x is the drive location). - Download the DLRMODEL.EXE file to the x:\cfgtemp directory. - Go to the Windows Program Managr and select File-Run. In Windows 95, select Start-Run instead. - In the Run Dialog, type x:\cfgtemp\setup and then select OK. - Follow the instructions displayed by the setup program to perform the update. The update program will overwrite older data files with the current ones. - When the installation program is finished, delete the update files in the c:\cfgtemp directory Note: You cannot use the ConfigPro Data Refresh on beta ConfigPro applications, version 1.0h or lower. If you are running a beta version, please delete it completely using the instructions below and reinstall the version 1.0i or higher. The application version number is found in the second line of the relnotes.txt file in the x:\confpro directory. UNINSTALLING CONFIGPRO Perform this procedure if you need to remove ConfigPro from your computer: 1. Delete the ConfigPro directory (default CONFPRO) and its subdirectories (SBW and QB). If you have a beta version, delete the configurator directory (default either CWISE or PCCONFIG) and its subdirectories (SBW, QB, and MODEL). 2. Delete the IBM ConfigPro folder from your desktop. Date of data refresh - found in the Requirements tab in the Prices As Of field. 3. Steps to recreate problem. LICENSE AGREEMENT IBM ConfigPro Version 1.0i Program License Agreement The Program is licensed not sold. International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) and Trilogy Development Group (Trilogy) grant you a license for the Program only in the country where you aquired the Program. You obtain no rights other that those granted you under this license. The term "Program" means the original and all whole or partial copies of it, including modified copies or portions merged into other programs. The Program includes, but is not limited to the Trilogy Configurator, Trilogy Data Models, Trilogy Graphical User Interfaces, Trilogy Application Product Interfaces, IBM Data Models, and IBM Graphical User Interfaces. IBM and Trilogy retain title to their respective parts of the Program. IBM and Trilogy own, or have licensed from the owner, copyrights in the Program. You are responsible for the selection of the Program and for the installation of, use of, and results obtained from the Program. 1. License Under this license you may: - use the Program on only one machine at any one time; - copy the Program for backup; - use this Program solely in conjunction with business activity you perform with or on behalf of IBM. You must reproduce the copyright notices(s) on each copy, or partial copy, of the Program. You may not: - use, copy, modify, merge, or transfer copies of the Program except as provided in this license; - reverse assemble or reverse compile this Program; - sublease, rent, lease, or asign the Program; or - transfer possession of the Program to another party. 2. Limited Warranty The Program has a three-month limited warranty on the media; provided that all Data Models and IBM Supplied Price Files are provided "AS IS", without any warranty of any kind. THIS WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES (OR CONDITIONS), EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABLITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so the above exclusion may not apply to you. 3. Limitation of Remedies IBM's and Trilogy's entire liability under this license is the following: IBM will replace defective media. IBM and Trilogy will not be liable for any direct or indirect damages, including lost profits, lost savings, or any incidential damages or other economic consequential damages, even if IBM, Trilogy, or any of the authorized suppliers, have been advised of the possibility of such damages. IBM and Trilogy will not be liable for any damages claimed by you based on any third party claim. This limitation of remedies also aplies to any developer of a Program supplied to IBM or Trilogy. IBM's, Trilogy's, and the developer's limitations of remedies are not cumulative. Such developer is an intended beneficiary of the Section. This limitation will not apply to claims for bodily injury or damages to real or tangible personal property for which IBM or Trilogy is legally liable. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations or exclusions, so they may not apply to you. 4. General You may terminate your license agreement at any time. IBM or Trilogy may terminate your license if you fail to comply with the terms and conditions of this license. In either event, you must destroy all your copies of the Program. You are responsible for payment of any taxes, including personal property taxes, resulting from this license. Neither party may bring an action, regardless of form, more that two years after the cause of action arose. This license is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, exclusive of the choice of law provisions.
