H165694: SYSTEM HANGS DURING INSTALLATION OF OS/2 SMP TEXT: System hangs during installation of OS/2 SMP. SYMPTOMS: System hangs during final re-boot of installation process of OS/2 SMP. PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS: - The system is a Netfinity 7000 M10 server, Type 8680, all Models. - The system is configured with any number of Processors. - The system's Diagnostics Pass. - The system is being configured with OS/2 Warp Server SMP. - The system experiences the symptom described. WORKAROUND: During installation, at the "System Configuration" window click on the CD-ROM icon to get a list of supported CD-ROMs. Click on "Non-listed IDE CD-ROM". Select any other items you wish to configure (although these may be added after installation) and click OK. Proceed normally with the remainder of the installation. DETAILS: The installation process hangs because the CD-ROM in the Netfinity 7000 M10 has not yet been added to the CD-ROM list within the OS/2 software. Because of this, OS/2 can not automatically detect the CD-ROM and this causes the installation process to hang. Choosing "Non-listed IDE CD-ROM" allows OS/2 to "see" the CD-ROM and proceed with the installation. DATE: January 15, 1999
