H164215: NETFINITY 3500: NOS INSTALL FAILS REBOOT ON OPEN BAY SYSTEM SYMPTOM: - The following error is displayed upon reboot of the System either during Network Operating System installation or after installation is complete: "Operating System Not Found" PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS: All of the following must be true for this TIP to apply: - The System is a Netfinity 3500 server Type 8644 model 10U, 10X, 20U, 20X, 30U, 30X configured with one or more supported SCSI hard drives. - The System is configured with, or is in the process of being configured with any Supported Network Operating System. - The System BIOS is revision 29A or lower. FIX: This issue will be fixed in the next BIOS released for this System. This TIP will be updated at that time. WORKAROUND: Manually add the hard drive to the startup sequence as follows: 1- Cold boot the System. 2- Press when prompted during System Boot. 3- Select "Start Options" from the "Configuration/Setup" Menu. 4- Select "Start Sequence" from the "Start Options" Menu. 5- Scroll to the desired startup device (ie: 1st, 2nd, etc) using the up / down keys. 6- Select HDD using the left / right keys. 7- Press two times to exit 8- Press for "yes" to exit the setup utility from the "Exit Setup" screen. System will reboot. 9- Continue to complete installing the Operating System if it had not completed. Date: July 22, 1998
