 Abstract:  ECA020, AUDIO RECORDING SIGNAL QUALITY CONDITION


 PURPOSE:
 The purpose of this ECA is to correct an audio recording
 signal quality condition when recording via the microphone
 jack, internal CD-ROM, or Audio Line-In jack at the rear
 of the system unit.

 DETAIL:
 When using either a microphone or the internal CDROM drive
 to record sounds to the hard disk via the integrated audio
 device, the quality of the recording is poor.

 The poor audio quality, or distortion, will worsen as the
 Record Volume is increased to maximum.

 Customers recording from an external device (such as an
 external CD player or stereo) via the Audio Line-In jack at
 the rear of the system unit will also experience the audio
 quality recording condition.

 NOTE: OEM audio adapters are not affected by this condition.

 NOTES:
 For customers that do not require the use of the Audio
 Line-In jack at the rear of the system unit, the recording
 quality condition can be eliminated by placing a check in the
 "Mute" box under the "Line In" control column in the "Crystal
 Audio System Mixer" recording control window.

 For customers requiring the use of the Audio Line-In jack at
 the rear of the system unit, replace the system board with
 FRU P/N07L7353.
