 Abstract:  SUPPORTED MEMORY TYPES AND SPEEDS IN 6889 SERIES SYSTEMS

 The following sections, taken from product announcements and
 online user publications, document the supported memory types,
 and memory speeds in IBM IntelliStation M-Pro Series 6889
 systems equipped with an Intel 440BX chipset featuring a 100MHz
 front-side bus.

 The memory modules your computer uses are dual inline memory
 modules (DIMMs). The IBM-installed DIMMs that come with your
 computer are static dynamic random access memory (SDRAM)
 with error correcting code (ECC). You can add extra memory
 modules or replace existing memory modules. When installing or
 replacing DIMMs, the following rules apply:

 * Only 168-pin, 100 MHz, 3.3V industry standard Memory DIMMs
   are supported.

 * You can mix SDRAM nonparity modules and SDRAM ECC modules;
   they will configure as nonparity.

 * Install only SDRAM ECC modules to enable ECC.

 * Registered and non-registered DIMMS are available. Do not
   mix these two types of DIMM technology.

 * All 256 MB DIMMs are registered.

 * The IntelliStation M-Pro does not support EDO memory.

 * Only the 256MB ECC Registered Memory DIMM (IBM OBI part
   number 01K1132) is supported on this IntelliStation M-Pro
   when installing 256MB DIMMs. This DIMM is not compatible
   with unregistered memory.
