 Abstract:  COMPAQ V70 DISPLAY IMAGE JITTER ON IBM PC300PL


 SYMPTOM:
 After connecting a Compaq V70 display to an IBM PC300PL system,
 machine types 6562/6592, users may detect image jitter on the
 display. The jitter will appear to be a small wave scrol-
 ling vertically down the screen. It may also be more evident
 on the left hand side of the screen, with certain backgrounds
 or along the sides of open windows.

 PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
 The display image jitter condition may be seen under both
 Windows95 and WindowsNT 4.0.

 FIX:
 The jitter condition may be corrected by creating a custom
 display profile via the following steps:

  1. Right click on the Windows Desktop.
  2. Select Properties, Monitor Tab, then MGA Monitor.
  3. Expand the COMPAQ view and highlight the V70.
  4. Select Properties, then the resolution in which jitter
     is seen.
  5. Select Test, then OK when the caution window appears.
  6. Select Yes on Monitor Settings, then OK when the caution
     window displays. Expand the Details view.
  7. Under Horizontal, place a Check in the Negative Sync
     Polarity Box.
  8. Select Apply, then "Continue Testing" on the Monitor
     settings window.
  9. Select OK, then Save.
 10. Type in a desired Monitor Name and select Save.
 11. Select Apply, then OK on the Monitor Selection window.
 12. Select Yes on Monitor Settings dialog box, then OK on
     Display Properties.

 After completing the above steps, use the custom display
 profile as the MGA monitor to eliminate the jitter condition.

 If the jitter condition described above is seen on other
 OEM displays attached to IBM PC300PL systems, the same
 steps may be followed to alleviate the condition.
