Abstract: 167 POST ERROR AFTER PENTIUM II PROCESSOR UPGRADE SYMPTOM: After installing a 333MHz Pentium II processor upgrade and changing the processor speed to 333 in BIOS, the system displays the following error each time the system is restarted: "167 Processor BIOS Update Not Found..." PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS: This tip applies to IBM PC300GL, Machine Types 6561/6591, utilizing the INTEL Pentium II type processor. The system information in the Setup utility will correctly identify the processor as 333MHz even though the error message is displayed each time the system is restarted. FIX: Update the system BIOS to the most current level, or, reflash the system BIOS to the present level if a newer version is not available. A limited number of the "Installing Options in Your Personal Computer" booklets included with each system did not contain the following paragraph in section "Replacing a Microprocessor" Note: If a 167 POST error occurs when you start you computer, refer to Updating the System BIOS in Using Your Personal Computer and perform a flash update of the system programs. The current BIOS update may be downloaded via the Internet from the IBM Personal Computer File Library by searching Internet URL www.us.pc.ibm.com/files.html for machine types 6561/6591.
