H01737 - "RPL HALTED" ERROR w/IBM LAN ADAPTER FOR ETHERNET SYMPTOM: IBM PC 300 Series 6577 and 6587 may exhibit an "RPL Halted" error message at the beginning of the RIPL operation, immediately following the POST test beep when using the IBM LAN Adapter for Ethernet. PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS: Configure the adapter to perform the RIPL function, then configure the System Setup Startup Options to start the system from the network instead of the floppy drive or hardfile. When the system is restarted, the "RPL Halted" message appears after POST. FIX: Do not replace hardware. Verify that the network, system, and adapter configurations are correct. An updated EPROM has been developed and made available to eliminate this failure. This is a customer-installable replacement which is ordered directly from the IBM Support Center for the IBM LAN Adapter for Ethernet. THE EPROM UPDATE IS PROVIDED TO ELIMINATE THE SYMPTOM DESCRIBED ABOVE. OTHER LAN RELATED PROBLEMS SHOULD BE ISOLATED USING NORMAL PROBLEM DETERMINATION PROCEDURES OR DIRECTED TO THE IBM SUPPORT STRUCTURE FOR ASSISTANCE.
