 TEXT:

 DDS/3 Tape drive 01K1282 requires Firmware update 7.27A.

 SYMPTOMS:

 7.27A Firmware provides several fixes and enhancements to
 improve field performance of the 12/24GB DDS/3 tape drive,
 including:

 - enhanced recovery procedures for some types of MEDIA errors,
 - enhancements to the power on self tests (POST),
 - fix for some HANG conditions,
 - fix for some SCSI BUS TIME-OUTS,
 - fix for some types of LOST POSITION errors,
 - fix for some types of REEL MOTOR errors,
 - improved END OF MEDIA handling,
 - significant enhancements to DDS/2 compatibility.

 PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

 - IBM 12/24GB DDS/3 tape drive (p/n01K1282)

 - The firmware of the tape drive is below 7.27A

 FIX:

 7.27A firmware files and a SCSI Bus download utility are
 available at the following URL:

      http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/files.html

      then search for "dds/3" - file name is 1224V727.EXE.

 WORKAROUND:

 No workaround available, firmware upgrade is highly recommended
 to resolve intermittent customer problems. In most cases, this
 fix should be applied BEFORE replacing customer's drive.
