1.0  Overview
______________________________________________________________________

Issues addressed:

APAR IC31858 -  Windows NT traps on shutdown with UMS installed 
                                  

o  Symptoms: 
                Windows NT intermittently traps (results in a blue 
                screen) on shutdown with Universal Manageability 
                Services 2.2 or 2.2.1 installed. The system will 
                restart normally.

3.0  Installation Instructions 
______________________________________________________________________


3.1  This eFix should be applied to the following configurations:
     
     Universal Manageability Services 2.2
     Director Server 2.2

     Universal Manageability Services 2.2.1
     Director Server 2.2.1
     

3.2  This eFix is to be applied to the following operating systems:

     Windows NT 4.0 Server
     Windows NT 4.0 Workstation
             
        
3.3  Primary installation method:  Run IC31858.exe
     
     This will automatically extract the necessary files and start
     the eFix installation process. Follow the prompts to 
     complete the installation
     
     *NOTE: This eFix requires administrator privileges to install.
     *NOTE: This eFix requires a system reboot
     *NOTE: If Service Pack 1 is applied to a system after eFix
	    IC31858 has been installed, the eFix must be reinstalled. 

                   
4.0   Configuration Information
______________________________________________________________________

4.1   This eFix is intended for version 2.2 of the configurations
      listed above in section 3.1 and 3.2.  
       
      This eFix is not intended for use with other versions of the
      product and may cause serious functionality problems or data 
      loss if misused.  Do not install this eFix on versions or 
      configurations other than those listed in this readme.

5.0   Unattended Mode

5.1  The IC31858.iss file provided with this eFix must be used due to 
     an InstallShield 3 installation recording limitation.  The 
     following example command line syntax should be used with the 
     eFix IC31858 executable:
     
        C:\fixes\IC31858.exe /s /a /s /f1C:\fixes\IC31858.iss
