Support Level Supplement (SLS) ptf7697a, the UnixWare 7.1.1 MPIO, sdi/sd01 Supplement, addresses the following problems:

Fixes various IBM server-specific problems with MPIO and the sdi/sd01 
recovery gauntlet.  In particular a panic related to recovery from a secondary 
HBA card (IBM ServeRAID 3) having gone bad during operation is fixed, and 
slow error recovery from a Fibre-channel cable being pulled from a storage 
unit is speeded up.

The kernel stack for the panic resulting from the secondary HBA going
bad while in operation (using kdb "stack" command) will be similar to:

Note that the numbers displayed here will differ for each UnixWare
server, but the routine names will be the same.  The important routine
name in the kdb output above is "t_syserr".

SLS ptf7603k MUST be installed before ptf7697a can be installed.

ptf7697a should only be installed on:

        UnixWare  7.1.1

Installation Instructions
-------------------------

1. Download the ptf7697a.Z file to the /tmp directory on your machine.

2. As root, uncompress the file and add the package to your system
   using these commands:

        $ su
        Password: <type your root password>
        # uncompress /tmp/ptf7697a.Z
        # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf7697a
        # rm /tmp/ptf7697a

Alternatively, this SLS package may be installed in quiet mode,
that is, without displaying the release notes and asking for
confirmation.  To do this, use these commands:

        $ su
        Password: <type your root password>
        # uncompress /tmp/ptf7697a.Z
        # pkgadd -qd /tmp/ptf7697a all
        # rm /tmp/ptf7697a

3. Reboot the system after installing this package.

   The release notes displayed prior to installation can be found in:

   /var/sadm/pkg/ptf7697/install/ptf7697.txt


Removal Instructions
--------------------

1. As root, remove the package using these commands:

        $ su
        Password: <type your root password>
        # pkgrm ptf7697

2. Reboot the system after removing this package.
