Additional information is available in the switch firmware readme notes. - When loading firmware 5.2 and executing a Non-disruptive code load and activation (NDCLA), only one GUI session is allowed to be open. If more than one session is open, the NDCLA will be attempted, but will then gracefully back out with an error message regarding the limitation. - When launching SANsurfer Switch Manager, you may receive an error regarding your font settings. For example, "Cannot convert string monotype arial regular ..." This is a configuration issue with the X Window System and does not affect the functionality of the GUI. The font path of the machine whose X-server is displaying the application needs to have a directory which either has the specified font (Arial) or a font alias to re-map it to another font. For example, you might add the /usr/openwin/lib/X11/TrueType directory to the font path on the machine that is displaying SANsurfer Switch Manager (not the machine on which the application is executing). This can be done using the sdtfontadm utility, and must be done as root. - When running from a remote login, the font size used for the text in the Help file is too small to read. This is an X Window font configuration issue. Edit (or create) a .Xdefaults file in your home dir (/ for root) and put the following lines in it: Netscape*documentFonts.xResolution*iso-8859-1: 100 Netscape*documentFonts.yResolution*iso-8859-1: 100 While the above changes may provide a solution, in some cases it may not. In such cases, the user may also be able to resolve the small font size by modifying the font preferences in Netscape to be "Use my default fonts, overriding document specified fonts." - If you execute SANsurfer Switch Manager on a UNIX system, put it in the background (i.e. SANsurfer_Switch_Manager &) and then close that window, or terminal session, SANsurfer Switch Manager will be killed. If you intend to run SANsurfer Switch Manager as a background process, do not do so in a window that will later be closed. - In the uncommon case where a change in the fabric causes the SANsurfer Switch Manager to add or remove items from a menu while that menu is open, the menu may not be redrawn completely. Closing and re-opening the menu, or any other menu operation, will correct the problem. - In SANsurfer Performance Viewer, if you maximize multiple graphs, it is possible for CPU utilization to go to 100%. A work-around would be to reduce the size of the graphs, or increase the polling frequency in the Graphics -> Set Polling Frequency menu item. - While running the embedded SANsurfer Switch Manager web applet, if you change the IP address of the switch where the embedded applet resides, the embedded applet session (at the old IP address) will stop responding. To work around this issue, specify the new IP address for the embedded applet in a new browser window. - While a fabric is open with a secure SSL connection, if the certificate expires and a firmware upload is attempted, the SANsurfer Switch Manager will report the firmware activation as failed because it is unable to re-establish the SSL connection to the switch. Open the Fabric with a valid SSL certificate and retry the firmware load. - If Java support is disabled in the browser, or if scripting support is disabled in the browser, the embedded Switch Manager will not be able to launch. The scripting support is referred to as "Enable JavaScript" in most browsers, and as "Active scripting" or "Active Web Content" in Internet Explorer. - If scripting support is disabled in the browser, the host- installed SANsurfer Switch Manager's online help will not function normally. This setting is referred to as "Enable JavaScript" in most browsers, and as "Active scripting" or "Active Web Content" in Internet Explorer. - Attempting to upgrade a fabric from 4.1 firmware while UserAuthentication is disabled (False) on any switch will terminate the switch management connection to that switch and prevent you from logging back in. To avoid this problem, use the command line interface to set UserAuthentication to True on all switches before upgrading firmware. See the "set setup system" command for information about setting UserAuthentication. _______________________________ 5.0 Known Issues _______________________________ 1. The Ctrl+F4 short cut key is not closing the graph window in the performance viewer in all situations 2. Remnant switches from an opened fabric file continue to show a status of "Logging in". Expected result is that they have an "unreachable" status. 3. When an invalid certificate is encountered for a switch loaded from a fabric file, an invalid certificate message is not received. Instead, a "login failed" message is received. 4. In cases where the fabric has a login failure to the switch(es), the GUI continues to attempt subsequent logins every second. This fills the alarm logs and other (more important) alarm logs may be lost as a result. In addition, the repeated attempts to login and subsequent failures disrupt the usability of telnet sessions until the fabric is closed. If there is only one GUI pointed at the fabric, this is no longer an issue. 5. After selecting the "Add a new Fabric" dialog to start the GUI session and then executing a different software program at the same time, the "Add a new Fabric" dialog reappears and allows you to add another GUI session when only one is supposed to be allowed 6. If a user tries to deactive a zoneset when there is no zoneset active on the switch, the GUI shows an incorrect message box after the deactivatation fails 7. After displaying the web browser and logging into the embedded GUI, once the embedded GUI loads and the fabric displays the switches in the topology, if you then select the web browser to either reload or change the IP address, the GUI & web browser will become unresponsive. This is a Windows only issue. 8. When using the embedded GUI, the GUI can hang on the initial start dialog if browser used to open a different fabric than specified the first time a fabric is opened by the browser. 9. No response from switch error message, when SSH enabled using WEB GUI 10. In the Performance Viewer while viewing the logged-in ports, if you start and stop I/O and then resize the graphs, the data is graphed incorrectly. Rescaling the window will allow the graphing to be corrected. 11. If a user changes the switch administrative state from diagnostics to online, the switch does not get reset even when the user confirms that they want this to be done 12. Konqueror only. Embedded GUI search button contains a blank box under the search button and then the text for one of the check boxes under that. If you fill in the search box but don't do anything with the empty box underneath, the search works fine. If you enter anything in the empty box, the search will fail. 13. [Alt+S,a] opened the hard reset window instead of the expected archive window (same shortcut key used in different situations) 14. In some instances, the WIZARDS menus is displayed before the VIEW menu 15. With 5 fabrics open in the GUI and max zoning on one of the entry switches, I activate a zoneset and then go to the zoning pulldown menu and deactivate it. Normally there are two message boxes displayed notifying of zoneset deactivation. However, there is a large delay before the second message box appears. This gives enough time to go to the zoning pulldown menu and activate the same zoneset again. If the Activate button is pressed before the second deactivate message box shows up, and when it does show up the deactivate message box is dismissed, the Activate Zone Set window will just sit there doing nothing. Many of the switches in the multiple fabrics go blue. 16. After opening and closing the "Edit Zoning" window without applying any changes, if you re-open the "Edit Zoning" window again the slider bar is positioned all the way to the left so that the left window frame is not displayed. The bar may be moved to the right by the user to display this window. EFCM Related Issues: 1. There may be inconsistencies between what EFCM displays and what SANsurfer Switch Manager displays. For example, EFCM may display the switch as unmanageable under the security tab. If you see inconsistencies like this, the SANsurfer Switch Manager or the switch command line interface should be used. 2. In some cases, EFCM is displaying the switch as an Ancor switch instead of a McDATA switch. 3. When doing port zoning via EFCM, not all of the ports are displayed for the McDATA switch. They can be manually entered, but you will not be able to drag and drop them since they are not displayed. 4. EFCM does not display / discover McDATA BladeCenter Switches unless they are attached to an external McDATA switch. _____________________ 6.0 Unattended Mode _____________________ This package does not support Unattended Mode ________________________________________ 7.0 WEB Sites and Support Phone Number ________________________________________ IBM Support Web Site: http://www.ibm.com/pc/support IBM Marketing Netfinity Web Site: http://www.pc.ibm.com/netfinity If you have any questions about this update, or problems applying the update go to the following Help Center World Telephone Numbers URL: 1-800-772-2227 http://www.pc.ibm.com/qtechinfo/YAST-3P2QYL.html. ____________________________ 8.0 Trademarks and Notices ____________________________ The following terms are trademarks of the IBM Corporation in the United States or other countries or both: IBM BladeCenter eServer Microsoft, Windows, and Windows NT are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States, other countries, or both.
