The SAN Utility can be installed on a BladeCenter HS20 blade server or an external network management workstation configured with one of the Linux operating systems described in “SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS” section of this README document. BladeCenter Management Module firmware version must be BRET30A or greater. ============================================ 4.0 INSTALLING BLADECENTER SAN UTILITY FOR LINUX ------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more detailed information about using the BladeCenter SAN Utility for configuring and managing your BladeCenter Fibre Channel switch module, see the IBM BladeCenter Fibre Channel Switch Management User’s Guide on the IBM BladeCenter Documentation CD or http://www.ibm.com/eserver/bladecenter/ on the World Wide Web. Complete the following steps to install the SAN Utility on a network management station or HS20 blade server that is configured with Red Hat Linux or SuSE Linux Professional: 1. Close all open programs. Insert the IBM BladeCenter SAN Utility CD into the CD-ROM drive. Complete the following steps: a. Open an xterm or other terminal window. b. Mount the CD. From a shell command-line prompt, type the following command and press Enter: mount /mnt/cdrom 2. To install the SAN Utility: To install directly from CD type "sh /mnt/cdrom/Linux/Linux_1.02.18.bin" or To copy and install from hard drive, do the following: a. Type "cp /mnt/cdrom/Linux/Linux_1.02.18.bin /[directory]/ where [directory] is designated folder for copying file b. Open a terminal window for the directory in which the Linux_1.02.18.bin file was saved. c. Type "sh Linux_1.02.18.bin" 3. Follow the BladeCenter SAN Utility installation instructions. 4. When the installation is completed, from a command prompt, type one the following commands and press Enter: sh /opt/BladecenterSANUtility/BladeCenterSANUtility or sh /opt/runBladeCenterSANUtility If a default fabric view file exists, the Enter Default File Password for Loading File window opens. Otherwise, the SAN Utility window opens. Important: Before you configure your switch module, be sure that the management modules in your BladeCenter unit are properly configured. In addition, to access and manage your switch module from an external environment, you might need to enable certain features, such as the external ports and external management over all ports. See the applicable BladeCenter Unit Installation and User’s Guide publications on the IBM BladeCenter Documentation CD for more information. ============================================ 5.0 UNINSTALLING BLADECENTER SAN UTILITY FOR LINUX ------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Uninstaller Data folder, which contains the Uninstall BladeCenter SAN Utility program that is used to uninstall the SAN Utility from a blade server running Red Hat Linux or SuSE Linux Professional, is copied into the installation folder during the initial SAN Utility installation process. In addition, a shortcut to the uninstallation program is installed in the user’s home directory during the SAN Utility installation process. The default installation directory is /opt/BladeCenterSANUtility/.
