The SAN Utility can be installed on a BladeCenter JS20 blade server or an external PPC-based network management workstation configured with one of the PPC Linux operating systems described in “SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS” section of this README document. Complete the following steps to install the SAN Utility on a PPC-based network management station or JS20 blade server that is configured with SuSE Linux on Power or Redhat Linux Linux on Power: Note: To install graphically using a JS20 blade server, the video must be exported to a remote machine. 1. Close all open programs. Insert the IBM BladeCenter Fibre Channel Support CD into the CD-ROM drive. Complete the following steps: a. Open an xterm or other terminal window. b. Mount the CD. From a shell command-line prompt, type the following command and press Enter: mount /mnt/cdrom (for Redhat) mount /media/cdrom (for SuSE) 2. To install the SAN Utility: To install directly from CD type "sh /media/cdrom/SANUtility/ppc/Linux_1.03.05_ppc.bin" or To copy and install from hard drive, do the following: a. Type "cp /media/cdrom/SANUtility/ppc/Linux_1.03.05_ppc.bin/[directory]/ where [directory] is designated folder for copying file b. Open a terminal window for the directory in which the Linux_1.03.05_ppc.bin file was saved. c. Type "sh Linux_1.03.05_ppc.bin" 3. Follow the SAN Utility installation instructions. 4. When the installation is completed, from a command prompt, type one the following commands and press Enter: sh /opt/js20SANUtility/js20SANUtility If a default fabric view file exists, the Enter Default File Password for Loading File window opens. Otherwise, the SAN Utility window opens. Important: Before you configure your switch module, be sure that the management modules in your BladeCenter unit are properly configured. See the applicable BladeCenter Unit Installation and User’s Guide publications on the IBM BladeCenter Documentation CD for more information. ============================================ 5.0 UNINSTALLING SAN Utility FOR PPC LINUX ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Uninstaller Data folder, which contains the Uninstall SAN Utility program that is used to uninstall the SAN Utility from a blade server running Red Hat Linux on Power or SuSE Linux on Power, is copied into the installation folder during the initial SAN Utility installation process. In addition, a shortcut to the uninstallation program is installed in the user’s home directory during the SAN Utility installation process. The default installation directory is /opt/js20SANUtility/.
