IBM(R) Software Delivery Assistant(TM) for IBM Systems with Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP version 2.0 Installation Readme To install the Software Delivery Assistant program, double-click the sda-ibm-srvinst.exe file and follow the instructions on the screen. The following information briefly introduces the IBM Software Delivery Assistant program along with considerations for the usage of the program. Introduction ============ The IBM Software Delivery Assistant program provides the ability to deliver software components to computers distributed throughout a corporate enterprise without the need for a network. Using the Software Delivery Assistant program, a catalog of software applications can be created which can be distributed on CD, DVD, or HDD in such a way as to simplify the delivery and installation of software on client systems. This guide leads you through the steps of installing the Software Delivery Assistant program. System requirements =================== The following are the minimum system requirements for the Software Delivery Assistant: - Intel™ Pentium® 3 processor - 512 MB of RAM minimum For best performance, use 1 GB of RAM. - CD-ROM drive - 200 MB of free hard disk space - One of the following operating systems: - Windows 2000 - Windows XP - Apache Tomcat Web Application Server v4.1.30 - Internet Explorer Web browser (6.0+) - A network connection (for client access and remote administration) - Internet access for the downloading of files during installation The following are the minimum system requirements for the Software Delivery Assistant client on systems to which Software Delivery Assistant exports are distributed: o Windows 2000 or XP o Internet Explorer Web browser (6.0+) Considerations ============== The IBM Software Delivery Assistant program requires the Apache Tomcat Web Application Server version 4.1.30 zip file to be available on the server at installation time. Apache Tomcat v4.1.30 can be downloaded from http://archive.apache.org/dist/jakarta/tomcat-4/v4.1.30/bin/jakarta-tomcat-4.1.30.zip Create a directory on the server as C:\Tomcat4. Download and place the jakarta-tomcat-4.1.30.zip file in the C:\Tomcat4 directory. The installation program will unzip and install Tomcat during the installation of the Software Delivery Assistant program.
