In addition, the system will spontaneously reboot intermittently and information about the system status such as temperature, memory configuration, or fan speed will not be available through the ASM. 2.0 Change History ______________________________________________________________________ Files Replaced or Added by this Patch: o No files are replaced or added by this efix. The registry value for HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\I2C\Start is changed from 2 to 4. This will disable the I2C service. 3.0 Installation Instructions ______________________________________________________________________ 3.1 Primary installation method: Run the self extracting executable IC28922.exe. This will automatically extract the necessary files and start the efix installation process. Follow the prompts to complete the installation *NOTE: This efix requires administrator priveleges to install. 3.2 Alternate installation method: It is not necessary to run the executable provided with this fix. Simply disable the IC2 device by using one the following procedures: 3.2.1 Windows NT 4: Click on Start > Setting > Control Panel, this will will open the Control Panel window. Double click on Devices and select I2C from the resulting window. Choose the Startup button and once the Device window has appeared, select the Disabled radio button and click on OK. Close the Devices window and reboot the system. 3.2.2 Windows 2000: Click on Start > Setting > Control Panel, this will open the Control Panel window. Double click on the System icon. From the System Properties window choose the Hardware tab and select the Device Manager button. In the Device Manager window click on view and choose Show hidden devices. Next, click on the plus sign beside Non-Plug and Play Drivers to expand the tree. Right click on I2C and select Disable from the pop up menu. Confirm that you want to disable the device by clicking the Yes button.
